Samsung Galaxy S9 Review: Is the Android phone of the year already here?

Samsung has been the king of the Android phone market for some time now. But is this set to change in 2018 with the release of its latest flagship? Does the S9 have enough to beat the , and ?

Fantastic display; Feels great; Much improved speakers

Average battery life; Dual-sensor only on Plus model; Some lag with Samsung's software

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus Smartphone

Unless you have the S8 and S9 side by side, you won't see much of a difference between them, at least while you're looking at them from the front.

Beautiful design; Superb screen; Great cameras; Feature packed; Impressive performance

Some features could be slicker; It's pricey

My only issue is that it does not fast charge, which is the main reason I got the phone as my old phone took forever to charge. I've tried multiple cords and chargers and have fast charge enabled. When I contacted seller multiple times I got no resolution.

Love it

I pre ordered this phone and I love it. I've changed from iPhone best bit is when you set the phone up it asks if you want to transfer just plug them in together with adaptor provided and 30 minutes later it was complete. Very impressed. Very user friendly and the camera is amazing!

In some ways, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is a serious step up from last year's flagship phone. In particular, its new 12-megapixel f/1.5 rear camera performs far better in low light than its predecessor. Its new Exynos 9810 processor also promises significantly faster performance.

Samsung hasn't made any drastic changes to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ compared to their predecessors, and the company didn't really need to do much. Last year's design is still stunning, and now, it's a little more polished.

Despite being launched as a completely new generation, I'd say the Galaxy S9 itself is a transition model. It's more of an upgrade similar to the S-branded models in the iPhone family and which Samsung launched in order to buy more time until more substantial upgrades are ready. And this does make...

Samsung's latest flagship is really good if you spend most of your time in Instagram feeds or creating content for the internet. For everything else the handset is just a marginal upgrade on last year's Galaxy S8 but you'll be pleased to know that the experience has been refined somewhat in a number...

Samsung Galaxy S9

The Galaxy S9 is a nice incremental upgrade, but its low-light camera isn't a game changer and some new features fall far behind the iPhone X. S8 owners can skip, but it's a good upgrade from older Androids.

The Galaxy S9 once again proves Samsung's formula of a gorgeous 5.8-inch screen, sexy dual-curved design and terrific camera for well-lit shots can't go wrong; Whiplash-fast speeds, wireless charging and water-resistance complete the package; And it looks stunning in purple and blue

Low-light photos often look blurry and lack the fine texture and contrast of competing phone cameras; The Galaxy S9's camera frequently, accidentally switches between modes; 3D avatar software is tragically bad and a new face-unlock tool is inherently insecure.
